Karen Louise (Darrow) Thompson, age 69, passed away peacefully on February 14, 2017 after her courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Akron, she was a 1966 graduate of Springfield High School. Karen worked in the family grocery business, Darrow Family Foods, for 16 years and continued on to become a realtor with Salchak Realty. She enjoyed spending time between her condo in Myrtle Beach, her family and friends in Ohio, her lake family in Kentucky, and her Florida crowd.
Karen is survived by her parents, Ralph and Jewell Darrow; husband, Terry A. Thompson; children, Julie (Dan) Davis and Steve (Lesa) Thompson; grandchildren, Lauren, Derek, Ryan, Katie and Chelsea; brother, David (Denise) Darrow; niece, Amy (Jose) Lopez; mother-in-law, Jean Thompson; brother-in-law, Rusty (Cindy) Thompson; and too many relatives and friends to name.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Koenig and the staff at Cooper Cancer Center and Summa Hospice for the wonderful care that was given to Karen.
Friends and family will be received Thursday, from 4 to 7 p.m., and Friday from 11 a.m. to 12 noon at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Road (Route 91), Akron (Ellet), Ohio 44312. Funeral service will be at the funeral home Friday, 12 noon with Pastor Dwayne Ray officiating. The family suggests memorials to the Cooper Cancer Center, c/o Summa Foundation, 525 E.
