Julius E. "Cal" Calderone

Julius E. “Cal” Calderone, age 82, passed away April 8, 2014.

A life resident of Akron, he graduated from Akron East High School and retired from Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company after 35 years of service. Cal was a fan of Browns football and Indians baseball, and he coached Pee Wee football. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, model airplanes, fast draw, and building doll houses. His passion was cooking, and he also enjoyed grocery shopping and keeping with family traditions.

Preceded in death by his parents, Rudy and Frances; and brother, Mike Calderone. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Charlotte; sons, Rudy Calderone, Steven Calderone and Tim Adamson; daughter, Julie (Jeffrey) Pike; grandchildren, Mindy Calderone, Nicole Gordon, Cam (Brian) Jellison, Jeremy (Bri) Tenney, Dillion Adamson, Rebecca and Stormy Wilborn; brother, Andy (Pauline) Calderone; and four-legged friends, Brutus, Hunter and Charlie.

The family will receive friends Friday, from 2 to 8 p.m., and Saturday, from 10 to 11 a.m., at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Road, Akron, Ohio 44312, where funeral service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. with Rev. Richard W. Ferris officiating. Burial will follow at Hillside Memorial Park, where military rites will be conducted by Mogadore VFW Post 8487.
