Juanita Mary Moutz was born in the small town of Forbes, Tennessee to Aster and Myrtle Davidson on November 10, 1923. She passed away peacefully at the age of 92 on May 26, 2016.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Alvin Moutz; son-in-law, Phillip Mauldin; and sisters, Willie Harter and Phyllis Chinrock. Juanita is survived by her children, Janice Mauldin, Richard (Sandy) Moutz, Diane (Gene) Belmonte and Kimberly (Jay) Folickman; 13 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She will be missed by her sister, Jean Clevenger; brother-in-law, Paul Chinrock; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Before moving to Green in her later years, Juanita was active in the community of Mogadore. She was a 50-year plus member of the Mogadore United Methodist Church, where she served as Sunday School Superintendent, a Sunday school teacher, and on various church committees throughout the years. Juanita enjoyed cooking dinners for many church functions and especially for the Mogadore Lions Club meetings.
Her love of gardening and flowers led her to become one of the original members of the Dirt Daubers Garden Club. Juanita volunteered with the blood drives sponsored by the American Red Cross for 17 years. She was an avid blood donor herself. Juanita loved to cook for guests at home, play bridge with friends, golf on various leagues, and bake chocolate chip cookies for her family. She loved having family and friends at their cabin on Leesville Lake. Most of all, Juanita enjoyed traveling with her husband, Alvin. Together, they visited 50 countries and almost all of the 50 states over the years.
Calling hours will be held from 2:30 to 4 p.m. on Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at the Mogadore United Methodist Church, 3828 Mogadore Road, Mogadore, Ohio 44260. Services will follow at 4 p.m. with Rev. Pamela Gable officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mogadore United Methodist Church or the Akron General Hospice Care Center, 3358 Ridgewood Road, Akron, OH 44333.
