Josephine A. Davis

Josephine “Jo” A. Davis, age 90, passed away peacefully on Monday January 22, 2024 surrounded by her loved ones. She was born on August 18, 1933 in Akron, OH to the late Helen and Dominic Gimelli. 

Josephine graduated from East High School in 1951. She retired from Yankee Lines where she met her husband, Jim. She enjoyed Sunday dinners with her family, spending time with her best friend Carmen, endless coffee, and Krispy Kreme glazed donuts. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy. 

She embodied the best of qualities: kindness, love, and warmth. She was an avid animal lover and celebrated her Italian heritage; she always looked so forward to gatherings with her special cousins. She attended Visitation of Mary Parish where she made several long-time friends while volunteering at the yearly fish fries. 

Preceded in death by her husband James Davis; Brother-in-law Carlo Palmieri, and niece Dianna of Akron. Left to cherish her memory is daughter, Dina McAbee; grandchildren Joe (Katlynn) and Nicole (Ben); twin sister Elizabeth Palmieri; special nephew Bob; special niece Donna Kiser, and special friend of over 60 years, Carmellia Reese and family as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. 

Family and friends will be having a private gathering in her honor. We invite everyone to please celebrate in her memory by donating to a charity of your choosing, planting a garden, feeding the birds, or simply grabbing a cup of coffee and watching an old movie.
