Joseph R. Weicht

Joseph R. Weicht, age 79, passed away on June 16, 2016. 

Born in Kitzmiller, Maryland, he lived in the Akron area most of his life and graduated from Springfield High School. Joseph retired from the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company after 42 years of service. He enjoyed driving his hot rod, and was an excellent woodworker who loved creating and lending his hand to many family projects. 

Preceded in death by his loving wife of 40 years, Elaine; and parents, David and Gertrude, Joe is survived by son, Joey (Angie); daughters, Lisa Weicht and Amy (Bill) Terry; grandchildren, Stephanie, Kristin, Dan, Courtney, Tyler, Zackery, Cheyenne and Caleb; six great-grandchildren; brother, Mike (Gina); sister, Mary (Ray) Light; and many nieces and nephews. 

Friends and family will be received Monday, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Road (Route 91), Akron (Ellet), Ohio 44312. Funeral service will be Tuesday, 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Hillside Memorial Park. The family suggests memorials to the Hospice of Summa, P.O. Box 2090, Akron, OH 44398-6153.
