Joseph P. Palumbo

Joseph P. Palumbo Jr., 79, passed away November 8, 2013.

He was born in Waukegan, IL, graduated from North High School and attended the University of Akron. Joseph was employed 44 years in the Grocery Industry and was a member of St. Matthew Parish, Mogadore Lions Club and the Merrymakers. He enjoyed reading, cooking and Jeopardy.

Preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Rose; and brother, John. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Norma Jean; son, Joseph III (Carol); daughters, Julie (Charles) Tortora and Jeanne (Jack) Alexander; grandchildren, Rachel Palumbo, Megan and Nathan Alexander; brother, James (Marty) Palumbo; sisters-in-law, Sue Palumbo and Joan Cobourn; many nieces and nephews.

Per his request, there will be no visitation. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday 10 a.m. at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 2580 Berne Street, Akron, Ohio 44312 with Father Michael Williamson presiding. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Mogadore Fire Department, 135 S. Cleveland Avenue, Mogadore, Ohio 44260.
