Joseph Carmen Biondi, age 80, went home to be with the Lord on December 14, 2015.
Born in Buffalo, N.Y., he served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Joseph retired from the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company after over 40 years of service, and was a member of St. Matthew Parish. Always proud of his Italian heritage, he enjoyed cooking for his family, and loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his first wife, Barbara; daughter, Susan; parents, Carmelo and Angela Biondi; and brother, Angelo; he is survived by his loving wife of 24 years, Debbie; daughters, Marcia (John) Cain, Laura (Mike) Heckert and Lisa (Tony Carozza) Knapp; stepsons, Andrew (Katie) Hoffman and Daniel Hoffman; grandchildren, John (Sarah), Christopher (Jacki), Brittany (Thomas), Courtney (Jon), Nicholas, Joey and Jake; great-grandchildren, Aaron, Ellie, Avery, Owen, Jack, Dylan, Casey, Ayla and Dean; and many loving family and friends.
Friends and family will be received Thursday, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Road (Route 91), Akron/Ellet, Ohio 44312. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, 10:30 a.m. at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 2580 Berne Street, Akron, Ohio 44312 with Father Michael Williamson presiding. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Mogadore, where military rites will be conducted. The family suggests memorials to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
