John Palmer, age 93, was reunited with his wife Frances on December 5, 2014.

Born in Scotland, he lived in Akron most of his life. Mr. Palmer served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, and was affiliated with the Lighter than Air Division, working with the blimps. He retired from the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company as a foreman in the Sheet Metal Department. John enjoyed woodworking, and was a talented artist. He loved animals, birds and spending time at Geneva-on-the-Lake. One of his favorite activities was hiking in the Metro Parks with his beloved wife, Frances, an activity they enjoyed well into their senior years. John loved baking, and enjoyed his sweets with a cup of tea. Above all, he was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

Preceded in death by his daughter, Joanne; and wife of 71 years, Frances, Mr. Palmer is survived by daughter, Jeanne E. (Rick) Cline; grandchildren, Matthew Phillips (Elaine Chin), Nate (Kristen) Cline and Mike Cline (Kerrilynn Krise), all of Akron; and great-grandchildren, Trystan, Kaitlyn and Landyn Cline.
