John A. Nicolino, age 64, went home to be with the Lord on November 8, 2018 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Akron to Tony and Esther Nicolino, he was a lifelong area resident and a graduate of Ellet High School. John was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church and had worked in the concrete business for many years.
In 2002, John started his own company, John Nicolino Construction. He was a hard worker and enjoyed his work very much, especially working with his son. John liked taking trips to the casino with his brothers and friends. He always looked forward to his yearly vacation in Ocean City, Md., and staying at the Flamingo Motel where he had made many good friends over the years.
Preceded in death by his parents; nephew, Matthew Naska; brother-in-law, Mark Aylward; and his beloved dog, Hannah, John is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Aileen “Aggie”; son, John; daughters, Katie and Mary; grandchildren, Dominic, Alex and Emmalynn Nicolino, Hunter and Hayden Myers; siblings, Vincetta (John) Naska, Michael (Jan), Joe (Teri), Anthony (Denise), Danny (Karen) and Mark (Chris); mother-in-law, Dorothy Aylward; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
John’s family would like to thank the staff at the Cooper Cancer Center and Summa Hospice for the loving care they gave to John.
Family and friends will be received Sunday, from 2 to 6 p.m. at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Road (Route 91), Akron (Ellet), Ohio 44312. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, 10 a.m. at St. Bernard Catholic Church, 44 University Avenue, Akron, Ohio 44308 with Father Chris Zerucha presiding. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Akron. The family suggests memorials to Paws and Prayers Pet Rescue, P.O. Box 67166, Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44222-7166.
