John F. Hillenbrand

John F. Hillenbrand, 85, of North Canton, passed away on September 10, 2014.

A graduate of St. Mary’s Catholic High School, he served proudly in the U.S. Army, mustering out as M.P. Sergeant. John retired in 1987 from the U.S. Postal Service after 36 years of service and had also been employed 33 years at Chapel Hill Sears Automotive.

Preceded in death by his son, John M. Hillenbrand; he is survived by his wife of 49 years, Mary; dearly beloved daughter and son-in-law, Marla and Michael W. Martell; grandson, William C. Martell (special friend, Amanda Cox); brother-in-law, Fred MacBride and dear friends, Milton and Janet Jackson, as well as many family members and friends, and his beloved dog, Zu Zu.

Friends may call 2-3 p.m. Sunday at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 3553 Northdale Street NW, UNIONTOWN, Ohio 44685 (one block NW of the square of 619 & Cleveland Ave.) where memorial services will be held at 3 p.m. Rev. Nancy Humes and Father David McCarthy will celebrate the service. Inurnment at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
