Joanne Marie (Jordan) Krantz, age 82, passed from this life to the next peacefully at sunset surrounded by family on Saturday, June 18, 2016.
She was born in Akron, the daughter of Clement and Jennie Jordan, the youngest of six and last surviving sibling. Joanne graduated from St. Mary’s High School and then worked at St. Thomas Hospital as a transcriptionist where she met and maintained friendships with co-workers until her passing. The city girl moved to Randolph in 1957 when she married her husband, Melvin L. Krantz, who she now joins in heaven along with her infant son, Martin.
Joanne was an active member of St. Joseph Parish where she worked for many years as a librarian for the parish school, and served on numerous committees throughout the years where she impacted many lives and organized numerous charitable events for the parish, school and Randolph community. She was also a small business owner, Krantz Katering, and served over 1000 events. In addition to her volunteer work Joanne enjoyed cooking, attending events for her grandchildren, playing bridge, cheering for all Cleveland sports teams and making Christmas special for her family and friends.
Joanne leaves to cherish and honor her memory her children, Kathleen (Deborah), Timothy (Karen), Kevin (Karen) and Colleen (Eric) Morgan; along with 11 grandchildren, Scott (Ashlee) Metzger, Staff Sgt. Drew Metzger USAF, Justin, Kyle and Larissa Krantz, Ryan, Rachel, Nathan and Lily Krantz, Christian (CJ) and Zachary Morgan; and one great grandson, Wyatt Metzger. The family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses and support staff from Akron General Medical Center, Visiting Nurses, Hospice and the Randolph EMS Department for their compassionate care.
Friends and family will be received Wednesday, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Rd., Akron (Ellet), Ohio 44312. A Funeral Mass celebrating Joanne’s life will be held Thursday, 10 a.m., at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 2643 Waterloo Road, Mogadore, Ohio 44260 with Father Ed Wieczorek and Father Thomas Acker, S.J. presiding. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in Joanne’s honor, to St. Joseph School, 2617 Waterloo Rd., Mogadore, Ohio 44260.
