Joan Letha Smith

Joan Letha Smith “Granny”, age 84, went home to be with the Lord on May 31, 2016. 

Joan was born in Pennsylvania, loved being a homemaker, preparing family meals, and taking care of her grandchildren and her loving husband. She attended the Ravenna Assembly of God. Joan enjoyed growing and caring for flowers, and loved going on long car rides with her husband. 

Preceded in death by her mother, Erma Akins; brother, Bobby Akins; and cousin, Kyle Fickes, Joan is survived by the love of her life, her husband of 66 years, Darce; sons, Darce (Lynn), Terry White; daughters, Darcy (Mike) Pipes, Vickie (Chuck) Keller, Marcy (Ron) Bishop, and Erma (Bill) Wilson; grandchildren, Michael and Tim Pipes, Tracy White, Katie and Leann Bishop, Adam Smith and Charlie Keller; great-granddaughter, Brittney; and many others. 

Friends and family will be received Friday, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 3553 Northdale Street (one block NW of the square of 619 & Cleveland Avenue), UNIONTOWN, Ohio 44685. Funeral service will be at the funeral home Saturday, 12 noon with Pastor Gary Beck officiating. Burial will follow at Hillside Memorial Park.
