Joan V. Singleton, age 80, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family on September 8, 2015 after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
Born in Weston, W.Va., she moved to the Akron area as a child. Joan was a homemaker and loved listening to and playing bluegrass music. She attended the New Hope Church of Christ and loved spending time with her family.
Joan was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Thelma Musgrave; and brother, Donnie. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 63 years, Tully; sons, Mike (Susan) and Mark (Linda); daughter, Lynn (Monty) Morrison; six granddaughters; eight great-grandchildren; brother, Fred (Donna) Musgrave; sisters, Imelda Kintz, Patricia Musgrave and Dian (Sterling) Cline; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Joan’s family would like to thank the staff of Summa Hospice for their loving care.
Friends and family will be received Sunday, from 2 to 5 p.m., and Monday, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 3553 Northdale Street NW, UNIONTOWN, Ohio 44685 (one block NW of the square of 619 & Cleveland Ave.), where funeral service will be held Monday at 11 a.m. with Dr. Ken Morrison officiating. Interment will follow at Hillside Memorial Park. The family suggests memorials to Hospice of Summa, P.O. Box 2090, Akron, OH 44398-6153.
