Jesse Clinton Hill

September 29, 1918 — May 10, 2013

Jesse left us to reunite with his wife, Vada (Detwiler), in heaven on May 10th 2013 at 1:45 am.

Born on November 29th, 1918 in Strongstown PA, he lived most of his life in Akron Ohio. Jesse was always a hardworking man in a variety of fields and enjoyed his independence until the very end. Strangers loved him for his laid back nature and appreciation for the little things in life. Jesse was a very loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. Family will remember him by his ever present mischievous grin, giving heart, and famous line “Well I’ll be damned!”

Jesse is preceded in death by both parents, Bert and Emma (Makins), bothers Robert, Chris, Norman, Albert and sisters Jean Friday and Elnora Hoover as well as his special friend Eva Laubscher. He is survived by son Ronald of Uniontown, his daughter Bev (Frank) Telesz of Uniontown, and son Donald (Tracy) of Akron. Jesse had four cherished grandchildren Ronda (Andy) Metz, Jessica (Tom) Walpole, Aron (Angie), and Clinton and three loving great grandchildren Kara, Bailey and Wyatt Metz. He is also survived by his brother Benny, sister, Doris (George) Datsko and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Roger Chaffee and Dr. Michael DeReubis.

Funeral services Tuesday 10 a.m. at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Road, Akron, Ohio 44312 with Pastor Ralph Hough officiating. Burial will follow at Hillside Memorial Park. Friends may call 5-8 p.m. Monday.
