Janis Lou (Heckman) Watson, age 92, went home to be with the Lord, Friday, August 2nd, 2024 after a short respiratory illness. Preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Eleanor Heckman and husband of 60 years, Thomas Leroy Watson. Born in Akron, Ohio June 3rd, 1932 she was a graduate of Ellet High School.
A member of Oak Hill Presbyterian Church in Ellet/Akron Ohio and Elfinwild Presbyterian Church of Glenshaw, Pennsylvania. For many years, Janis served the community as a beautician along with her mother, Eleanor, at Eleanor’s Beauty Shop on Canton Road in Ellet/Akron Ohio and retired as a beautician from Murray Manor Nursing Home in Murrysville, Pennsylvania.
Janis was a lover of all animals and traveling, particularly River Boat cruising in Europe where she gained friendships throughout the world. Janis was an avid seamstress with interests in crocheting, knitting and needlepoint. Her love of Heggy’s Chocolate and Strickland’s Frozen Custard were legendary/ Janis’ family was the love of her life, she loved fiercely and without hesitation. In July of 2016 she returned to the Akron area from Allison Park, Pennsylvania to be closer to her extended family.
Survived by her son, Stephen (Debbie) of Syracuse, NY and daughter, Karen of Uniontown, Ohio, three grandchildren.
Memorials are suggested to Lake Township FISH (Faithfully I Serve Him) Food Pantry serving Hartville, Ohio and surrounding areas. Checks can be made payable to Lake Township FISH, P.O.
