Janice P. Witherow, age 85, passed away unexpectedly February 11, 2017.
She was born in Binghamton, New York to William and Dorothy Habberfield and resided in Uniontown, Ohio most of her life. Janice retired as a Guidance Counselor at Ellet High School after more than 37 years of service in the Akron Public School System. She enjoyed flowers, and feeding the birds, but especially loved caring for kittens and cats. Janice was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who will be deeply missed by her family.
Preceded in death by her son, James Michael in 1969; and her husband of 51 years, James in 2003. She is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Sheryl and Curtis Baird; grandchildren, Beth Yoder and Richard (Linda) Yoder; great-grandchildren, Ilya and Gavin Balla, Brandon, Olivia, Lucas, and Jaxon Yoder.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, 11 a.m., at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 3553 Northdale Street NW, UNIONTOWN, Ohio 44685 (one block NW of the square of 619 & Cleveland Ave.), with Pastor Bob Cheyney Jr. officiating. Family and friends will be received one hour prior to the service, from 10 to 11 a.m. Cremation has taken place per Janice’s wishes. The family suggests memorials to the Humane Society of Greater Akron, 7996 Darrow Road, Suite 30, Twinsburg, OH 44087.
