Janet L. Rutan

Janet L. Rutan, 79, passed away November 21, 2012 after a long illness.

She was born in Akron and lived in the Akron/Tallmadge areas most of her life before moving to North Canton. Janet was a graduate of Idabelle Firestone School of Nursing and was employed as a registered nurse with Akron City Hospital, in the surgical department for 40 years, retiring in 1998. She attended Community Christian Church in North Canton.

Preceded in death by daughter, Pamela Brewer; she is survived by her husband of 56 years, William L.; sons, David S. (Kelly) of Hartville, and Wm John (Wendy) of Tallmadge; son-in-law, Boyd Brewer of New Garden, Ohio; grandchildren, Jonathan Brewer, Scott (Jess), John, Michael (Courtney), Matthew and Christian Rutan; sister-in-law, Carol Allio of Hartville. The family would like to extend special thanks to Dr. Mark Smith and the staff at Altercare of Hartville.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday 10:30 a.m. at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Road, Akron, Ohio 44312 with Pastor Mike Shaub officiating. Burial to follow at Hillside Memorial Park. Friends may call 4-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home and Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until service time. The family suggests memorials to a charity of your choice.
