Janet Garten “Jan” (nee Dickson)
“The Lord is with me, so I will not be afraid”. Psalms 18:6
We found this verse written on a slip of paper in Mom’s purse. A month or so ago she told us she wasn’t afraid to die, she just didn’t want to leave us. We miss her already, so very much.
Janet Garten, age 81, went home to be with the Lord on December 18, 2016. She was born in Akron and attended Ellet schools. She was a very strong woman, fighting many medical problems in her life, but she grew so weary and is finally at peace.
Janet was a friend to everyone who met her and was loved by many. She had the kindest heart of anyone around and would give what she could to those in need. She never turned anyone away if they needed to talk, always lending a “listening ear” and her support any way she could. She was very loving and kind, as anyone would tell you. Her greatest joy was her family.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Opal Dickson and father, William Dickson.
She leaves to mourn her passing daughters, Kathy (Garry) Miller, Lori (Jay) Seeman, Bobbi Scott; sons, Mike (Sue) Lutz, Steve (Denise) Lutz, Chuck (Dianne) Lutz; brothers, Bill and Dave Dickson; 15 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.
Family and friends will be received Thursday, December 22 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home in Ellet at 547 Canton Road, Akron, with a short memorial service beginning at 6 p.m. with Rev. Pamela Gable officiating.
