James Joseph “Jim” Wohlwend, age 86, passed away peacefully on October 1, 2015, surrounded by his family and is now in the arms of the Lord.
Born in Akron, he lived in the Suffield/Randolph area most of his life and was employed with B.F. Goodrich, later retiring from Crofford Printing. Jim was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, where he served as Choir director. He was an active board member of Residential Resources for the Developmentally Challenged (RRDC), and a member of the Randolph Lions Club. He also belonged to The Jammers in Deerfield, where he enjoyed playing his trombone. Jim had a love for music, playing cards, making bird feeders and fixing clocks. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his parents; sister, Alice; and brothers-in-law, Jerry Bolanz, Jim Samblanet and Bill Wise, Jim is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mary Lou; ten adopted children, Bernida (Peter) Rowe, Ramona, Michelle (Steve) Papp, Mary Jane, Lisa, Angela, John, David, Andrew (Mary Ann) and James Thomas (Tasha); grandchildren, Amanda, Ashley, Alyssa, Teryn, Jacob, Casey, Anna, Ethan, Sophia, Celeste, Jalena, Nathan and Davonte; four great-grandchildren and one on the way; brothers, Father Paul, Robert and Carl (Betty); and sisters, Mary Lou Wise, Joan (Robert) Lamm, Clara Samblanet and Martha (Ron) Harris.
Family and friends will be received Sunday, from 2 to 6 p.m. at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 34 S. Cleveland Avenue (Route 532) MOGADORE, Ohio 44260. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 2643 Waterloo Road, Mogadore, Ohio 44260. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the Randolph Lions Club or the St. Joseph Food Shelf.
