CANAL FULTON – James R. “Jim” Ripley, age 71, passed away on January 20, 2017 after a long illness.
Born in Akron, he lived in area most of his life and served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam. Jim was employed with B.F. Goodrich for 20 years, and also at Jeter Systems for 20 years. He was a member of the Buckeye Corvette Club. Jim was a loving husband, father and Papa. He enjoyed restoring cars and participating in parades with his Corvette.
Preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Anita; and sister, Barbara Carr, he is survived by his wife of 49 years, Linda L.; son, Jim (Sheri) of Green; daughters, Sally (Doug) Hartline of Jackson Twp., Melanie (Eddie) Torres of Green; and grandchildren, Nick, Nathaniel, Jarod, Courtney, Kinsey, Kendra, Kyle, Liberty and Landry.
Friends and family will be received Tuesday, from 4 to 7 p.m., and Wednesday, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 3553 Northdale Street NW, UNIONTOWN, Ohio 44685 (one block NW of the square of 619 & Cleveland Ave.) Funeral service will be Wednesday, 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Joseph Serbin officiating. Burial will follow at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. The family suggests memorials to the Ohio Veteran’s Memorial Park, 8005 Cleveland Massillon Road, Clinton, OH 44216.
