James Richard “Rich” Carr, 80, passed away February 22, 2014.
Born in Carmichaels, Pennsylvania, Rich lived most of his life in Akron, Ohio and graduated from Coventry High School. He retired from Goodyear Aircraft Braking System after 40 years of employment. Rich enjoyed playing the piano, gardening and most importantly, his family.
Preceded in death by parents, William D. and Lovena Carr; brothers and sisters, Clayton Carr, Fleetwood Carr, Charles Carr, Mary Rowan, Melva Lint, Arden Carr and Wesley Carr; Rich is survived by his loving wife of 29 years of marriage, Lois “Dovie”; son, James R. (Lisa) Carr; daughters, Rhonda (David) Campbell and Michelle Carr; grandchildren, Brittany, Megan, Kevin, Kyle, Kaitlin and Taylor; great granddaughter, Gracelynn; brother, William D. (Clara) Carr, Jr.; sisters, Hazel (Kenneth) Taylor and Helen (Thomas) Harless; many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, from 5 to 8 p.m., at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 3553 Northdale Street NW, UNIONTOWN, Ohio 44685 (one block NW of the square of 619 & Cleveland Ave.), where funeral service will be held Wednesday, 11 a.m., at the funeral home, with Pastor Dave Johnston officiating. Burial will follow at East Liberty Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Akron General Visiting Nurse Service, 3358 Ridgewood Road, Akron, Ohio 44333.
