James Hubert Outland, 77, went home to be with the Lord February 20, 2013 after a very long illness.
Born March 3, 1935, he served four years in the U.S. Navy. Jim married the love of his life, Chris, 57 years ago. They made their home in Mogadore for over 50 years. Jim loved teaching Science at Mogadore High School and had a passion for anything to do with nature and God’s creation. He was grateful for spiritual leadership and teaching at The Chapel for the past 49 years. Jim was a good and kind man and took great pride in his family and children. In his spare time, he loved fishing at Mogadore Reservoir and hunting rabbits.
In addition to his wife, Jim is survived by sons, Roger (Cheryl) and David (Dawn); daughter, Nancy (Mark) Williams; grandchildren, Heather (Nathaniel), Nate, Kristen (Ryan), Justin, Megan, Ryan, Mark Jason (Megan), Aaron, and Elizabeth (Scott). He also leaves brothers, Robb (Karon) and Bill (Nancy); and sisters, Sue and Judy Kay (John). We are grateful for Essex Healthcare and staff for their loving kindness; Dr. Mark Smith for his wonderful care throughout the years; and AseraCare Hospice for their care and support. Memorial service will be Friday, 10 a.m. in the Memorial Chapel at The Chapel, 135 Fir Hill, Akron, Ohio 44304. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Camp Carl in care of The Chapel; or the Mogadore Fire & Rescue Department, 135 S. Cleveland Avenue, Mogadore, OH 44260.
