James R. Miller “Pops/Papa/Potts/Paparooni”, age 75, passed away on June 7, 2021. Born in Akron, he graduated from Garfield High School in 1963 before attending Adam State College. He was employed for 13 years with Firestone and retired from the University of Akron after 30 years. His loves in life were spending time with his family and his dog, Clyde, and making his yard beautiful. James enjoyed watching his granddaughter, Shelby, play softball for the Grizzlies; his other granddaughter, Carley, dance/cheer; and his grandson, Riley, wrestle. If the Manchester football team was in the playoffs you could bet that Pops was cheering them on.
James is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Julia L. Miller (nee Stouffer); daughter, Christine (Ralph) Mayes; son, James C. (Jacque) Miller; grandchildren, Riley, Shelby, and Carley; great-grandchildren, Declan and Addison; and sister, Carol (Vern) Meredith. Friends and family are invited to attend a Celebration of Life on Thursday, June 10, 2021 at 3:00 pm at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home at 547 Canton Road Akron, Ohio 44312 with visitation from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm Thursday, June 10, 2021. Private entombment will be at Rose Hill Burial Park at 3653 W Market St, Akron, OH 44333.
