James L. Marshall

May 12, 1929 — March 31, 2013

James L. Marshall, age 83, went home to be with the Lord on Easter Sunday, March 31, 2013. He passed peacefully with his family by his side and is now absent from the body but present with the Lord.

He was born in Lakemore, Ohio, graduated from Springfield High School and lived in Suffield since 1955. Mr. Marshall retired in 1984 as a successful Prudential agent for more than 30 years, impacting many lives of his clients. He was a dedicated member and usher of The Chapel in North Canton where he found great joy and inspiration from his Sunday School Class, the “Kindred Spirits”.

Though Mr. Marshall loved fishing at his cabin at Piedmont Lake, his greatest joy was his family and he will be deeply missed by them and all those who had the privilege of knowing him. Preceded in death by parents, Joseph and Edna; step-mother, Lyn; oldest son, Rick; and son-in-law, Dick Atkinson. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Delores; son and daughter-in-law, Rex and Vickie of Uniontown; son, Kurt of Akron; daughter, Michelle Atkinson of Xenia, Ohio; grandchildren, Curtis (Megan), Eric (Ali), Brannon (Mandie), Rene’ (Andrew) Haile, Kari, Adam (Brittany), and Derek; great grandchildren, Joseph, Carston, Hannah, Glory, Asa, Gabriella and Madisyn; brother and sister-in-law, William and Joan.

Funeral services will be held Friday 11:00 a.m. at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Road, Akron, Ohio 44312 with Pastor Mike McCartney and Mr. Marshall’s grandson, Brannon Marshall officiating. Burial to follow at Hillside Memorial Park. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Thursday and from 10:00 a.m. Friday until service time. The family suggests memorials to the Haven of Rest Ministries, P.O. Box 547, Akron, OH 44309-0547 or the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675.
