James J. Koegle, age 87, passed away August 19, 2018 after a long illness.
Born in Akron, James lived in Akron before moving to Uniontown where he resided the last 45 years. He served in the U.S. Army and was employed with the Akron City Police for 26 years before his retirement in 1983. He was a member of the F.O.P Retirees.
James is survived by his wife of 56 years, Sue; daughter, Becky (Mike) Leith of Huntersville, N.C.; granddaughters, Samantha (Ryan) Blackwell of Wilmington, N.C. and Morgan (Nick) Jones of Charlotte, N.C.; great grandchildren, Ellie, Aubrie and Tristan; and special cat, Tommy.
Family and friends will be received Tuesday, (TODAY), from 6 to 8 p.m., and on Wednesday, one hour prior to the funeral service, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Road (Route 91), Akron (Ellet), Ohio 44312. The F.O.P. will conduct a service Tuesday at 7:45 p.m. Funeral Service will be Wednesday, 11:30 a.m., with Rev. Richard Ferris officiating. Burial will follow at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman. The family suggests memorials to the Uniontown Paramedics, 13055 Oakwood Ave. NW, Uniontown, Ohio 44685.
