James B. “Jim” Trace III, age 54, passed away December 2, 2014 after a courageous two-year battle with cancer.
Born in Akron, he graduated from Mogadore High School and the University of Akron. Jim was employed with AK Steel in Coshocton for 17 years. In his spare time, he enjoyed golfing, biking and spending time at Rainbow Hills Winery. A music lover, he had a large collection of vinyl records, and he was also a fan of the Three Stooges. Jim loved life and lived it to the fullest. He was a loving husband, brother and son as well as a friend to many, and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Preceded in death by father-in-law, Elmer Karas; brother-in-law, Ed Karas; and cousins, Chris Timms and Inger Glinn. He is survived by his loving wife of 23 years, Janice; parents, Jim and Donna Trace of Mogadore; brother, Steve (Beth) of Warren; sister, Wendy (John) Hanigofsky of North Carolina; and a large family of in-laws, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and –nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, 3 p.m. at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 34 S. Cleveland Avenue (Route 532), MOGADORE, Ohio 44260, with Deacon Doug Mould officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1 p.m. until service time Saturday. Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Akron General Visiting Nurse Service, c/o Akron General Foundation, 1 Akron General Ave., Akron, OH 44307.
