James Allen Clawson; 92, devoted husband, father and grandfather went home to be with the Lord with his loving family at his side on September 22, 2024 after a battle with Mesothelioma lung cancer.

James was born in Akron, Ohio and attended East High School. He entered the 26th US Army Infantry Division where he served in active duty in the Korean War for two years pulling night time patrol with his scout dog Prince. He married his beautiful wife, Lynda Marie Clawson on September 24, 1955 and they had two sons and one daughter who would bless them with five Grandchildren. He worked 40 years for the Local 219 Plumbers & Pipefitters JATC of Akron. He spent most of his life in Springfield Twp.

Jim was a long-time member of the Akron Baptist Temple. He enjoyed numerous interests such as making model vintage airplanes and cars out of wood, woodworking, gardening, taking care of his two acres of land and smoking his pipe while listening to talk radio. Repairing things that were broken was a task Jim also enjoyed. If he couldn’t fix it, he said he learned from taking the item apart. He would tell you that is greatest accomplishment in life was raising three wonderful children and watching them grow to become God loving adults. Jim and his wife Marie took immense joy in spending time with his grandchildren.

Jim was the youngest child; he is preceded in death by his parents Virgil and Worthy Clawson of Akron, his brothers Benjamin and William Clawson. He is survived by his wife of 69 years (Marie); his sons James Craig and Daniel Kevin, daughter Sandra Lyn, daughter-in laws Pamela Sue (Clawson) & Kelli Ann (Clawson) and grandchildren Taylor James, Lindsey Marie, Jonathan Blake, Nolan Daniel and Natalie Marie Clawson. The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to Crossroads Hospice for all the care and comfort they provided to Jim and the family.

A private family service will be held at Hopkins Lawver-Ellet Funeral Home immediately following a Military Funeral Honor at Hillside Memorial Park.
