James W.C. Blucker, age 88, died peacefully on April 17, 2014 doing what he loved best, fishing at the shores of Wingfoot Lake.
Born in Akron, Jim was a graduate of O.C. School as an Ensign in the Merchant Marines. He went on to marry Dolly on August 25, 1946 at St. Martha’s in Akron. After fathering his first three children he graduated from Buchtel High School in 1952, finishing his education at the University of Akron. Jim retired from the Ohio Edison Company after 40 years of service, where he started at the Gorge Plant, went on as a foreman in construction and finished as a Senior Accountant in the Plant Accounting Dept. He was a member of St. Joseph Parish in Randolph, and the Ohio Edison Men’s Club. Jim enjoyed gardening and investing in the stock market, and loved fishing at his beloved Mogadore Reservoir and Wingfoot Lake.
Preceded in death by his wife, Dolores Ann “Dolly”, and sisters, Betty and Mary. He is survived by sons, James (Nancy) and Michael (Susan); daughters, Janie (William) Allen, Kathryn (Paul) Nitz, Mary Alice (Russ) Varner and Diane (Roger) Haught; 15 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren with one on the way; brothers, John M. (Lyn) and Charles T. (Susan); and sisters, Rita, Margaret and Judy.
The family will receive friends Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 34 S. Cleveland Avenue (Route 532) MOGADORE, Ohio 44260. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, 9:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 2643 Waterloo Road, Mogadore, Ohio 44260, with Father Thomas Acker, S.J. presiding. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. The family suggests memorials to the St. Joseph Food Pantry.
