James H. Bader, 75 years, passed away November 11, 2012 and is now in heaven with his Blessed Savior Jesus Christ.
Born in Akron, Jim served in the U.S. Navy on the USS Ticonderoga. He worked as a foreman at RCA Rubber Company. Jim was active in law enforcement for 27 years. He served as Deputy Sheriff for several years and the Springfield Township Police Department where he retired as Chief of Police. Jim was very active in the community, speaking to the Kiwanis and local schools about drugs. He was Santa Claus at Ritzman Elementary where he was a lifetime member of the PTA. Jim was a longtime member of Millheim Baptist Church and FOP Lodge #157.
Preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Walter “Jake” Jr. and Blair Bader; he is survived by his devoted wife of 49½ years, Joan; daughter, Jill (Terry) Sluss; brothers, Harry (Marilyn) Bader and Larry (Marsha) Bader; his many loving nieces and nephews; and loyal dog, Lucky and grand-dog, Gracie.
Funeral services Thursday, 11 a.m., at Millheim Baptist Church, 2661 Hayne Rd., Akron, Ohio 44312, with Pastor K.W. Lawrence officiating. Interment at Northlawn Memorial Gardens where military rites will be conducted by Mogadore VFW Post 8487. Friends may call Wednesday, from 4 to 8 p.m., at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Rd., Akron, Ohio 44312 and at the church on Thursday, from 10 a.m. until service time. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the church.
