Jacqualine E. "Jackie" Yost

Jacqualine E. “Jackie” Yost, age 91, went home to be with the Lord on November 4, 2015. 

Born in Fairview, W.Va., she graduated from Fairview High School in 1942 and obtained her Registered Nurse license from Fairmont State Nursing School. Jackie lived in the Ellet area most of her life. She was employed with Akron Children’s Hospital for 30 years, where she was Head Nurse on 6 West prior to her retirement. She also spent time as a volunteer at Children’s after retiring. 

Jackie enjoyed singing with the BJ Singers and was a member of The Chapel. She loved cooking for her family, bowling and playing golf, and enjoyed attending football games at Ellet High School and the University of Akron. Jackie also loved time spent with her miniature dachshund, Penny. 

Jackie was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, William E.; parents, Benjamin and Lela Ammons; sister, Helen Bittner; in-laws, James and Lilly Yost; brother-in-law, Leon Yost; and sisters-in-law, Shirley Ammons and Marion Murray. She is survived by sons, Jim, Gary (Tobi), Joe (Pat), Randy and Bob (Trish); grandson, Pete; brother, Ben Ammons; and sister, Janet (Gary) Carpenter; best friend, Ann Akers; and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend a special thanks to caregiver, Teresa Perrot, for her loving care of Jackie. 

Friends and family will be received Sunday, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Road (Route 91), Akron/Ellet, Ohio 44312 where funeral service will be held Monday at 10 a.m. with Pastor Steve Bucy officiating. Interment will follow at Hillside Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Akron Children’s Hospital Foundation, One Perkins Square, Akron, OH 44308; or the Humane Society of Greater Akron, 7996 Darrow Road, Twinsburg, OH 44087.
