Jack R. Coppenger, Sr., age 81, was called home on December 10, 2020.
Born in Tellico Plains, Tenn., Jack resided in Akron for all of his adult life. He was a 1957 graduate of Tellico Plains High and a retiree of F. W. Albrecht Grocery Company. Jack spent many years volunteering with his beloved wife at the Food Pantry at Arlington Memorial Baptist Church. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, playing cards, spending time with his family and delivering food prepared by Mary.
Preceded in death by his wife, Mary (Heidbrider) Coppenger, and parents, Lester and Beulah (Mitchell) Coppenger, he is survived by his three sons: Jack Coppenger, Jr. (Amber), Jeff Coppenger (Jodi) and James Coppenger and friend, Chris Noll-Sorna. He was a wonderful Papaw to his seven grandchildren, Spencer Hurst (Austyn), Madison Riggs (Bryan), Taylor Coppenger and fiancé, Mat Lewis, Heath Coppenger (Courtney), James Coppenger (Josselyn), Bailey Coppenger and friend, Matt Vatina and Hayleigh Coppenger; along with four great grandchildren, Finn, Max and Myles Hurst and Audrey Riggs. Jack is also survived by his sister, Margaret Norman.
Funeral service will be Monday, December 14, 2020 at 10:30 a.m. at Arlington Memorial Baptist Church, 2330 E. Market Street, Akron, Ohio 44312 with Pastor Dave Bogue officiating. Burial will follow at Atwater Cemetery. Family and friends will be received at the church prior to the service Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, monetary donations can be made to the Food Pantry at Arlington Memorial Baptist Church.
