Irene Monroe

Suffield, Ohio, Portage County

Irene Ann (Bochert) Monroe, 87 years, 2 months, 6 days, passed from this life on March 5, 2024. Born December 30 ,1936, in Mannington, WV, to Clinton Aaron Bochert and Ocie (Wildman) Bochert. 

She grew up in WV. She met the Love of her life (Don), in 9^th grade, and married him December 30,1955, while he was home on leave from the military. Mom always said, “He chased me till I caught him.”  They had lived in various places before settling in Suffield, Ohio for the past 54 years. She was a life-long member of the Church of Christ. 

Living on a farm, mom had the major role of taking care of all the animals, planting a huge garden, taking care of the house and four children, and later in life, taking care of her parents. Mom was not only a fantastic cook, but, was also known for her many different types of pies she would make. She could sew and make anything. She could do just about anything she set her mind to. She loved her grand-babies and looked after them whenever needed or just because she loved to. 

She is preceded in death by her parents, and two sisters. 

She is survived by the Love of her life of 68 years, husband Arden Don Monroe. Children: Beth Monroe (Clapp), Barbara (Ray) Embacher, Brenda (Loren) Stayer, Betty Jo (Rob) Judy, 9 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren. 

She was an Amazing Wife, Mother, and Grandmother. Her family meant everything to her. She always put her family before herself. Most importantly, she taught us about God, and the importance of having good morals and values.

She will rest in Wyatt, WV.
