Hugh Wendell Shahan

Hugh W. Shahan of Green, passed away peacefully on October 22^nd, 2023. Born April 7^th, 1933, in Tunnelton, WV to Virgil and Vergie (Wiles) Shahan. He was a graduate of Tunnelton High School in 1951. In 1952 he joined the Army. He ascended to the rank of Sergeant in the 11^th Airborne as a Paratrooper. After his service in the Army he came to Akron and started working for Roadway Express. On April 6^th, 1957, he married his High School sweetheart Gancy Faye Conley. They lived in the Akron/Tallmadge area until 1967 when they built their home in Greensburg. In 1986 he retired from Roadway Express.

Hugh and Faye joined Greensburg United Methodist Church and have remained members over these many years. Upon retirement Hugh built a woodworking shop where he enjoyed making furniture, crafts, and toys for his grandchildren. He also joined different golf leagues over the years in which he greatly enjoyed his many friendships.

Hugh is survived by his loving Wife and Sweetheart of 66 years, Faye Shahan. He is also survived by his son, Jeff Shahan (Sharon), Daughter, Jill Lehman (Vince), Grandchildren, Joshua Lehman (Nicole Stratton), Alyssa Shahan, Katie Lehman Caudill (Zach), Ryan Shahan (Jody) and Great Granddaughter, Rylee Ann Shahan.

He was proceeded in death by his sister, Loretta and brother, Duane.

Friends and family will be received Saturday, October 28^th, from 12:30 to 2 pm at Greensburg United Methodist Church, 2161 Greensburg Rd., North Canton, OH 44720.  Funeral service will be held immediately following at 2 pm.
