Howard E. Grable, Sr., age 74, passed away September 16, 2017, surrounded by friends and family at an NRA Banquet in Hartville, Ohio.
Born in Akron on June 28, 1943 to parents, Warren and Deloras Grable, Howard lived in the Uniontown area his entire life. He graduated from Green High School in 1961. Howard was an avid hunter and homebody who enjoyed spending time at home with his family. He and his son would compete and banter, especially during deer season, at the farm of his close friend, Dale Fincannon, located in southern Ohio. Howard was known as the “grill master” during the annual themed large family picnic in July. His skill for grilling sharpened with each year.
Preceded in death by his beloved son, Howard Jr. in 2016; brother, Ronald Grable in 2015; and parents, Warren and Deloras Grable; he is survived by his devoted and loving wife, Sylvia; loving granddaughter, Megan and her fiancé, Nathan Larkin; daughter-in-law, Jeannie; sister, Geraldine Graves; brothers, Ken and Richard Grable; he will also be greatly missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; as well as his sisters-in-law and brother-in-law.
Friends and family will be received Thursday, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 3553 Northdale Street NW, UNIONTOWN, Ohio 44685 (one block NW of the square of 619 & Cleveland Ave.) Funeral service will be held Friday, 11 a.m., at the funeral home with Rev. Richard Ferris officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery in Uniontown. The family suggests memorials to your favorite charity or The Friends of NRA.
