Henry R. “Hank” Capple, age 92, went home to be with the Lord on May 29, 2018.
Born in Akron, Ohio, he resided in Cuyahoga Falls most of his life. Hank graduated from East High School in Akron, and was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. He retired from the City of Cuyahoga Falls after 20 years of service.
Mr. Capple attended Miller Ave. U.C.C. where he served as a Deacon and an Elder for 71 years. He was a member of Mount Akra Lodge No. 680 F&AM, and a 33rd Degree member of the Scottish Rite for the Northern Masonic jurisdiction. Hank loved the outdoors, and enjoyed golfing, baseball, cars and car racing, woodworking, camping and bowling.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Betty Jane King (Capple) and brother, Calvin Capple. He is survived by his loving wife, Dolores N. Capple, happily married for close to 71 years; children, Jeffrey (Linda) Capple, Jennifer (Terry) Ketterman, Craig (Sueanne) Capple; six grandchildren, Joshua (Elisa) Ketterman, Heather (Jason) Azem, Jessica (Jonathan) Vasquez, Michelle (Kevin) Cassidy, Curtis (Shawna) Capple, Neal (Katie) Capple; 13 great grandchildren; and brother, Curtis Capple of Tucson, Ariz.
We cannot thank Great Lakes Caring Hospice enough for five years of dedicated service to our father. We always were treated like family and given the very best of care.
Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 2, 2018 at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Road (Route 91), Akron (Ellet), Ohio 44312 with Rev. Adam Marquette officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Akron. Friends and family will be received at the funeral home one hour prior to the service on Saturday, from 10 to 11 a.m. A Masonic Service will take place immediately prior to the Funeral Service. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to the Marine Raider Foundation.org, P.O. Box 2018, Temecula, CA 92593. The family requests that all military persons, if able, attend in full dress uniform.
