Helen Globits Lapham

Helen Globits Lapham, age 100, died peacefully May 20, 2015 surrounded by her loving family and friends. 

Helen was born on May 13, 1915 in Des Moines, Iowa to Bess and Fred Schweiker. She was educated in the Akron Public Schools and was a member of First United Presbyterian Church of Alliance, Ohio. 

Helen was preceded in death by husbands, Julius Globits and Russell Lapham; her daughter, Betty Jane McCleary; sister, Betty Peterman; and brother, Carl Schweiker. She is survived by daughter, Judith Hume Hurr (Ben); sister, Jane Butler; grandchildren, Brennan McCleary, Robin Hume Richter, Erin McCleary, Mitchell Hume and Meghan McCleary; great-grandchildren, Hallie Radler, Ryan Radler, Leah McCleary, Charles McCleary, Lucy Keller and Owen Keller; nieces, Karen DePalo and Debra Gottas; and nephew, Rick Butler. 

Helen’s family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Crossroads Hospice, Copley Health Center and GreenView Assisted Living for their loving, devoted care. Family and friends will be received from 12 to 1 p.m. Saturday at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Road (Route 91), Akron, Ohio 44312, where funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. with Dr. James McCurdy officiating. Burial at Hillside Memorial Park. The family suggests memorials to Crossroads Hospice, 3743 Boettler Oaks Dr., Suite E, Green, OH 44685; or First United Presbyterian Church, 425 E.
