Helen Combs

Helen Combs, age 95, passed away April 30, 2014.

Born in Uhrichsville, Ohio, Helen lived in the Akron area most of her life, and was a member of Akron Airport VFW Post 8975. Preceded in death by her parents, Bernice and Ralph Hicks; husband, Matthew Combs in 1974; and sisters, Wilma Hicks and Mildred Motts. She is survived by son, Daniel Combs of Phoenix, Ariz.; daughters, Linda Drown of Warren, Mich. and Kathy (Mark) Gray of Dublin, Ohio; grandchildren, Amanda (Kirk) Powers, Matthew (Kara) Gray, Kristin (Todd) Castilow and Brandie Drown; and great-grandchildren, Carissa, Breanna, Ethan and Caleb.

The family will receive friends from 12 to 1 p.m. Friday at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Road, Akron, Ohio 44312. Graveside service and burial will immediately follow the visitation at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 2569 Romig Road, Akron, Ohio 44320. The family suggests memorials to Hospice of Visiting Nurse Service, c/o Akron General Foundation, 1 Akron General Avenue, Akron, OH 44307-2463.
