Hazel A. Cruise

MOGADORE - Hazel A. Cruise, of Mogadore, passed away at her home on April 28, 2017 at age 79 after a long courageous battle of illness. She was born June 5, 1937 in Akron, Ohio and was the second of four children born to Garnett L. Lester and Marjorie (Culton) Lester. The family moved to the Mogadore area when Hazel was a young girl, and she graduated from Suffield High School in 1955. Hazel was a member of the Mogdore Christian Church for 64 years and had a very strong Christian faith. She was employed by Bumpas Drug and Emporium in Tallmadge over 18 years until it closed. Hazel enjoyed working the Christian Church food tent at the Portage County Fair every summer for many years. Preceded in death by brothers, Jim and Richard Lester; she is survived by her loving husband, Donald of 58 years; children, Rachel (Ronald) Pierce, and David (Hannah Kapalko); grandchildren, Meghan and Sarah (Preston) Pierce, and Jennifer Cruise; brother, Albert Lester; special friend, Joyce Anthony; and a host of other loving relatives and friends. Friends and family will be received 11:00-12:00 pm Wednesday at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Road (Route 91), Akron (Ellet), Ohio 44312. Funeral service will follow at 12:00 noon with Dr. Eugene F. Higgins officiating. Burial will take place in Greenwood Cemetery, Mogadore.
