Harry Eugene Woods

"Together Again" Harry Eugene Woods, 87, of Akron, Ohio passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 21, 2016 at Akron City Hospital. 

He was born in Akron to Harry and Goldie Woods and lived most of his life growing up in Akron with an adventurous childhood and a much fulfilled life. Harry served in the U.S. Army as a young man and then went on to graduate from Kent State. He worked at Goodyear for 44 years, mostly as an Engineer and helped design tire machines. In addition to raising a wonderful family, he was an avid reader and enjoyed Great Books Club. Harry also loved to paint and draw and was quite the artist. He volunteered as a tutor at Hatton Elementary School and did various volunteering through the years at First United Methodist Church of Akron, where he has been a longtime member. Harry was an extremely devoted husband of 57 years married to his lovely wife Lois Woods and a devoted father to his four children. 

He is survived by his children, Greg (Rita) Woods, Kevin (Carol) Woods, David Woods and Mary (Kris) Murali; grandchildren, Julie Davis, Michelle Williams, Melissa (Gary) Olson, Kristin (Warren Smith) Woods, Rebekah (Andy) Ilg, David Woods II, Timothy Woods, Rekha Murali and Meena Murali; brother, Bud (Eleanor) Woods; multiple great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Though his family and friends will miss him dearly, Harry is finally reunited with the love of his life, Lois Woods. 

Friends and family will be received Friday, from 5 to 8 p.m., at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Road (Route 91), Akron (Ellet), Ohio 44312. Funeral service will be Saturday, 10 a.m., at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Akron. The family suggests memorials to his church, First United Methodist Church of Akron, 263 E. Mill Street, Akron, Ohio 44308.
