Harold Musser

d. November 24, 2014

Harold Musser, 96, passed away at home peacefully in the presence of his family on November 24, 2014.

Born on January 24, 1918 in Akron, he was a lifelong resident of the area and member of St. Matthew Parish. Harold was a devoted family man, happily married for 66 years. He was a father of seven children; 13 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. Harold was a World War II veteran who served in England and Germany. He was employed by the Burger Iron Company until his retirement in 1982.

Harold loved photography, gardening, reading history, and playing cards, especially at Ellet Senior Community Center, but his greatest passion was caring for his family. He enjoyed babysitting his grandchildren and served as an example of how to live a life focused on the values of hard work, loyalty, honesty, and kindness. Loved by all who knew him, he always put the needs of others first.

Preceded in death by his loving wife, Mary in 2010; son, Michael; and brother, Donald. He is survived by his daughters, Rosemary (Charles) Cottrell, Kathleen (John) Prough, Patrice Marks, Janet (Jack) Bissett, Diane (Edward) Davis; son, James (Lisa); 13 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. He will be greatly missed.

The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 2580 Berne Street, Akron, Ohio 44312, with a Memorial Mass at 11 a.m. Father Michael Williamson will preside. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. The family suggests memorials to St. Matthew Catholic Church.
