Harold E. “John” Flittner, 90, passed away March 22, 2015.
Born in Suffield Twp., Harold lived in the area his entire life. He served in the U.S. Army 1st Armor Division during World War II under George Patton and Mark Clark. Harold was wounded in the Italian Campaign where he received the Purple Heart. He was retired from Akron Brick and Block after 35 years, was a member of Mogadore VFW Post 8487, D.A.V. Post 35, Mogadore Moose Lodge 1082 and the AMVETS Post 17 of Sandusky.
Preceded in death by his wife, Shirley; brother, William; sister-in-law, Nadine; and nephew, Robert; he is survived by brother, Garth; great nephews, Daniel and Jonathan; niece by marriage, Sandy Flittner; special friend and square dance partner, Sue Veite.
Private services were held at the convenience of the family. Cremation has taken place.
