Gregory Scott Schafer

Gregory Scott Schafer, 69, passed away on January 14, 2019. Born in Akron, Gregory retired from the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company in 2004 after 36 years of service. He began as a forms carrier in the Data Center then became a computer programmer and later a Section Manager/Programmer. Greg worked in Accounts Payable, Purchasing and then HR/Payroll/Benefits programming departments. Preceded in death by his parents, Arthur J. and Rosalie; he is survived by his wife of 24 years, Joyce L. (Croysdale); brother, Bruce L. Schafer; and beloved dog, Baby Girl. Friends and family will be received Tuesday, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Road (Route 91), Akron (Ellet), Ohio 44312, where Funeral service will follow the visitation at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Hillside Memorial Park.
