Grace Elisabeth Koontz

Grace Elisabeth “Gracie Lu” Koontz, returned home to God as the sun set on June 24.

Born on March 8, 2005, she fought hard against CMV and all it brought against her. Through all her hospital stays at Akron Children’s, Nationwide Children’s and Rainbow Babies and Children’s, she never gave in, and her love touched many people. Her smiles and giggles were intoxicating and she will be remembered by many forever.

She goes to heaven, knowing someday she will be joined by parents, Ken and Kathy (Herron); siblings, Elya (Justin) Kantner of Bluffton, OH, Nathan (Abbey) Koontz of Canton, Dan, Maria, Monique, Ciera and Gabriel of the home. Also grandparents, Roger and Marjorie Koontz of Canton, Bruce and Maryann Herron of Massillon; aunts and uncles, Dave and Julie Koontz of Norton, Dr. and Mrs. Pete (Joyce) Snyder of Iowa, Doug and Anita Morris of Georgia, and Brad and Lori Koontz of Illinois; nephews, Ezekiel and Milo Koontz, and Caleb Kantner; special friends, Eric Shultz and Shawna Rollheiser.

We want to thank Akron Palliative Care, and Grace’s many caregivers for the love they showed her. We also thank “Make A Wish” for granting her wish vacation two years ago.

Funeral services will be held Friday 11 a.m. at Faith Family Church, 8200 Freedom Avenue NW, North Canton, Ohio 44720 with Pastor Jack Pancher officiating. Burial to follow at Warstler Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday 2-4, and 6-8 p.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be given in Grace’s memory to “Make A Wish” 1422 Euclid Avenue Suite #239, Cleveland, Ohio 44115 and that bright colors be worn to the services in her memory.
