Gloria "June" Babich

Gloria “June” Babich, age 93, passed away on December 11, 2019. She was born on November 13, 1926 in Akron, Ohio to Merle and Clara Patterson. She married Peter J. Babich on June 22, 1947. They resided in Akron, Ohio for all of their marriage. In later years, they enjoyed traveling, especially to Florida, to visit family. June was a homemaker, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She also worked for 25 years at O’Neil’s department store. She started working in downtown Akron and ended her career at Chapel Hill Mall. June took pride in her work and met many friends during her time there. She cared deeply for her family and treated everyone she met with kindness and love. June was preceded in death by her beloved husband of almost 50 years, Peter Babich; her parents, Merle and Clara Patterson; sisters, Marjorie Morrone and Carol Roberts; and brothers, Merle Patterson and Charles Patterson. She is survived by her children, Patricia (Marshall) Rardin and Linda (Verne) Adamson; grandchildren, William Baker (great-grandchildren, Bryce and Braden), Tamara (Brian) Neidert (great-grandchildren, Anderson and Avery), Christine (Dale) Riley (great-grandchildren, Kerrigan and Claire), Heather (Rickey) Woodard, and Matthew (Mandi) Adamson (great-grandchildren, Cloee, Carson and Aidin); sisters, Judy (George) Manus and Darlene (Neil) Bedford; and brothers, Donald (Shelly) Patterson and Skip Stover. The family would like to express special thanks and gratitude to the staff of Briarwood Healthcare Community in Stow, Ohio for the care shown to June while she resided there, and to Hospice care who were there to help with her final care. Visitation will be at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Road, Akron, Ohio 44312 from 12 to 2 p.m. on Monday, December 16, 2019. Funeral service will immediately follow at 2 p.m. Following the service, June will be buried with her husband, Peter at Hillside Memorial Park.
