Glenn Alden Young, age 79, passed away on June 2, 2021.
Born in Akron, he lived in the Ellet area all of his life. Glenn completed his primary education through the Akron public school system and went on to receive his Bachelor’s Degree from Manchester College and his Master’s Degree from the University of Akron. His passion for education was evident in his work as a teacher for forty years at Ellet High School and ten years at the University of Akron. He was an active member of Springfield Church of the Brethren, where he was a member of the choir and served as a deacon. Glenn enjoyed photography, entertaining people with his stories, camping, model ships, electronics, music, biking, and caring for his dogs.
Glenn was preceded in death by his parents, Russell Glenn and Elizabeth Emily (Burtoft) Young, and infant sister, Margaret Jane. He is survived by his wife of sixty years, Bonnie Young; children, Christine (Doug) Kline, Jennifer, Andrew (Eileen Herrlinger and children), Cathleen (Chris) Johnson; grandchildren, Russell (Kaite), Elyssa, and Jacob Kline; sister, Emily (Robert) Bell; and furry best friend, Bentley.

Friends and family will be received Sunday, June 6th from 5 to 8 p.m. at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Road (Route 91), Akron (Ellet), Ohio 44312. A funeral service will be held on Monday, June 7th at 11 a.m. with an hour of visitation prior at Springfield Church of the Brethren, 3500 Albrecht Ave. Akron, OH 44312. Burial will follow at Maple Hill Cemetery.
