Glenn H. Tipton, age 87, went home to be with the Lord on September 9, 2017.
A life resident of Akron, he was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during the Korean War. Mr. Tipton was employed with Goodyear Aerospace, Akron Standard Mold and S.C. Manufacturing. He was a former member of Richville United Church of Christ in Navarre and was currently attending Millheim Baptist Church. He served as a volunteer fireman in Lakemore, and was a past president of the Sandpiper Mobile Home Park Association.
Glenn was preceded in death by sister, Roberta Kaser and stepbrother, Tom Sietz. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Betty J.; son, Curtis G. (Lori) of Uniontown; daughters, Barbara J. (Frank) Wilson of Akron, Anna M. (Dr. Jonathan) Wright of Perrysburg, Ohio, Mary L. Tipton of Reno, Nev., Karen S. (Kevin) Nemire of Rapid City, S.D., and Sharon S. (Jerry) Waldrop of Suffield; 14 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and sister, Eleanor Hickman of North Lawrence, Ohio.
Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, 11 a.m. at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Road (Route 91), Akron (Ellet), Ohio 44312 with Pastor K. W. Lawrence officiating. Friends will be received at the funeral home one hour prior to the service on Tuesday, from 10 to 11 a.m. The family suggests memorials to Millheim Baptist Church, 2661 Hayne Road, Akron, OH 44312 or Richville United Church of Christ, 6125 Richville Drive SW, Navarre, OH 44662.
