Gladys M. Jones

Gladys M. Jones, 94, went home to be with the Lord November 20, 2016. Born in Akron, Mrs. Jones was retired from the Akron Board of Education and was secretary at McEbright School, Glover School, Seiberling School and Ellet High School and loved young people. She was past president of the Akron Association of Educational Secretaries, a Member of Ohio Association of Public School Employees, a life member of the National Association of Educational Office Professionals, a member of SERS, a member of Billow Chapter 483 Eastern Star and AARP. She was a member of The Chapel in Green. Preceded in death by her loving husband of 53 years, Donald P. II; parents, Guy and Emma Jones; beloved grandson, James K. Jones; great-grandson, Ty Bucciarelli; brother and sister-in-law, Harold and Polly Jones; and sister and brother-in-law, Virginia and Robert Zimmer; she is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Donald P. III and Ellie Jones; daughters and sons-in-law, Sandy and Bob Shelestovich, Cindy and Bob Rosen, and Julie and Perry Bartholet, all of the area; 15 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren, with another great-grandson expected in March; and one great-great grandson; brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert and Gwen Jones and Norman and Ernasteen Jones; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Monday, 11 a.m., at Hopkins Lawver UNIONTOWN Funeral Homes, 3553 Northdale Street NW, UNIONTOWN, Ohio 44685 (one block NW of the square of 619 & Cleveland Ave.) with Pastor Steve Bucy officiating. Burial at Greenlawn Memorial Park. Calling hours will be Sunday, from 2 to 4 p.m., at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
