Gina F. Benjamin, age 48, went home to be with the Lord on January 24, 2019 after a long, courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Cuyahoga Falls, she currently resided in Barberton. Gina graduated from Coventry High School where she still holds the record for the longest discus throw. She was employed at Firestone Country Club, and enjoyed bowling in her spare time. Gina was always known for reaching out to people and helping others.
Preceded in death by her brother, William David, Gina is survived by her longtime friend, Scott Webb; parents, David and Mary Ann Benjamin; daughter, Ashley Benjamin (Andrew Agner); son, Brian Benjamin (Jessica Rader); grandchildren, Zella, Paxton and Peyton; brothers, Michael (Carol) Benjamin and Larry (Tammie) Benjamin; sister, Kelly (Brian) Twiddy; and many other aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends.
Cremation has taken place. Friends and family will be received for memorial visitation on Saturday, from 2 to 4 p.m. at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Road (Route 91), Akron (Ellet), Ohio 44312, where a Memorial service will begin Saturday at 4 p.m. with Pastor Gary Meeks officiating. In lieu of flowers, Gina’s family suggests memorials to the American Cancer Society, 525 North Broad Street, Canfield, OH 44406.
