Gertrude Amy Bolden, age 99, went home to be with the Lord on December 25, 2016.
She was born in Akron and was a life resident of the area. Mrs. Bolden attended Hammel Business College and was a long-time member of Oak Hill Presbyterian Church. She retired from the J.C. Penney Company in 1975. Gertrude loved working in her yard and keeping it beautiful.
Preceded in death by her husband, Raymond; son-in-law, James Sheffield; parents, Charles and Zora Young; and sisters, Bertha Young and Dorthea Panko, she is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Sue Bolden; daughter, Jill Sheffield; seven grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Gertrude’s family would like to thank Hospice of Summa and the staff at Chapel Hill Community, especially Olivia, for their kindness and loving care.
Friends and family will be received Thursday, from 5 to 7 p.m., and Friday, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Road (Route 91), Akron (Ellet), Ohio 44312. Funeral service will be Friday, 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Fred Pugh officiating. Burial will follow at Hillside Memorial Park. The family suggests memorials to Oak Hill Presbyterian Church, 2406 Ardwell Avenue, Akron, OH 44312.
