On July 1, 2012, the soul of George Martin Nolan, rose up on eagle’s wings with a breath of wind, shone like the sun, and entered the gates of heaven to rest at the feet of his Lord. He joined with the angels as they sang Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord God Almighty. He was home.
George was born June 8, 1923 in Cleveland, Ohio to Arthur and Mary (Turner) Nolan and lived most of his life in Akron, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his beloved and cherished wife, Ethel; his parents; and brother, Walter Nolan Sr. He is survived by his daughter, Carol Sue (Jim) Beasley; grandchildren, Richard Beasley, Jamie Boggs, Sherri Beasley; great grandchildren, Kevin Boggs, Cara Boggs, Tami (Darren) Fitzpatrick, Ken Boggs, and Tonya Beasley; great-great grandchildren, Shannon, Faith, Noble, Logan, Xzavier, Aliviah, and Zoe; sister-in-law, Betty Nolan; niece, Ruth (Jim) Goodyear and nephew, Walter Nolan Jr.; also his extraordinary friends, Carole Smith, Thomas, Amelia and Logan McIntosh. He was very fond of the employees at Bob Evans Restaurant on Gilchrest Road.
He graduated from East High in 1941 and worked in the Chemical Plant at Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company for 43 years on the night shift. During his lifetime his hobbies included flying, boxing, gymnastics, electronics, swimming, and even built his own computer. He volunteered many years at Edwin Shaw Hospital & Rehab. Above all, he was a born again Christian and loved the Lord. He was a member of Arlington Memorial Baptist Church for most of his life.
The family would like to give thanks to all the special caregivers at Manor Care on W. Market Street in Akron for their loving and exceptional care during his illness.
